For those located in the San Francisco Bay Area, please come on down to my book talk on Thursday, July 25, at 6-7pm for a discussion of developments in the election and my debut book, “How Democrats Can Win Back Men.” Political strategists, data enthusiasts, policy wonks, and anyone interested in the election this year are welcome! (Note: there WILL be math! But not too much;) Free tickets are available, and for $10 you will also receive a copy of the book.
Netroots Nation
I recently returned from Netroots Nation, an annual progressive political event started by The Daily Kos that took place in Baltimore this year. I was excited to share my ideas and conducted several interviews (Politics Done Right, Netroots Radio) on my recent release. The talk of the convention, not surprisingly, was whether or not Biden will stay in the race, and if not, who would replace him. [Edit: Just as this post went out, Biden has announced his withdrawal from the race.]
I felt there was an air of nervousness about the possibility of Democrats performing badly in November. However, I was impressed by several speakers, especially Washington Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (link goes to her speech). There was also an event held by The Black Male Voter Project which seeks “to close the voter gap with Black women and Black men from 10% to 4%.” The organization headed by W. Mondale Robinson operates in 17 states in the Southeastern US.
There have been a lot of election developments lately — I will chime in on those in upcoming posts. For those in the Bay Area, I hope to see you Thursday!
